Do you ever collect clippings of fashions you just love, to try to remember your inspiration, or aspiration, or even to recreate something similar? We've been selling a lot of silks this week, and I was reminded of my own clippings that stayed on my bulletin board for years on end. I didn't necessarily want to recreate the looks, but some things just evoke a spirit or an atmosphere of the times...something in the air. Today we saw this "inspiration" page, but sometimes it's just a photo saved on a phone. This customer did her homework...she had a Lekala pattern and an optional sleeve that she will use to get a slightly more conventional look, but still with an open rolled collar, asymmetry, and a rich drape. We were able to help her with a beautiful dark grey'd bottle green satin face georgette, something a little more floaty and unusual than charmeuse. It's gorgeous, and she will be too.
